The Art Hub for Teens is open to teens, ages 12-18 (middle school and high school), who are developing as visual artists. Although the focus of the studio is on art-making, it is open to multi-talented creatives who enjoy digital art design and/or creative writing/literary art. We recommend digital artists bring their own fully charged hand-held devices (there will be spots available to charge if needed). A variety of art materials are included for teens to choose from including acrylic paints, pastels, alcohol markers, colored pencils, charcoal, collage, sculpting clay, and more. Teens are welcome to bring their own materials from home as well. Here’s what you and your teen can expect:
Each day will include an artist lesson and open Studio Time for teens to work on their own wish-list of projects. Please check out Sample Lesson plans below. During Studio Time, we provide creative guidance which involves giving teens individualized micro-lessons and tips, helping them turn “mistakes” into opportunities, or helping them work through moments of self-doubt.
To celebrate the journey, teens are given the opportunity to feature their work in an intimate Showcase that family and friends are invited to on the last day of the program.
Please note that how much time your teen spends in the art studio is up to them. It’s their studio so they can spend as much as 3 hours in the studio. We recommend at least 1.5 hours of project time in addition to the lesson to really get the most out of it.
Finally, if you're not sure the class is right for you, you can try the first class for free before deciding if you will register for the session! If you're interested in trying the first class, please text, call, or email us: 909 644 5686 or studioworksartcollective@gmail.com.
Spring session details including price, dates, and location will be posted soon. You can visit the Registration Page at: https://www.cityofredlands.org/post/art-hub-teens
