Our Youth Ambassadors (YA’s) are active teen members of our SWAC Art Hub for Teens program. These special YA’s represent and lead fellow teenagers within the teen art hub program. They promote participation and goodwill within the program, the community or beyond.

Why is the YA program important? Artists and creatives have limited opportunities to develop the soft business skills specifically within an art organization or company that could help them embark on entrepreneurial careers. At SWAC, we want to help build the arts and creativity directors of tomorrow.

Do you want to be a Youth Ambassador? YA’s like the idea of being representatives, communicators, engagers, promoters, and/or organizers. They want to be more visible at their school among other creatives and artists. YA's take art, digital art, photography, creative writing or performing arts electivesThey like the idea of representing teen artists and creatives within the community. Here's a more detailed look:

General Role and Purpose:

• Representation:
  Youth Ambassadors represent the perspectives, interests, and needs of young people within our organization. They keep our organization informed about what teen members are saying and thinking in regards to the services and programming. These YA teens are tapped in with our teens! 

 

• Leadership:
  YA’s develop important leadership skills, often through community service, organizing events, or mentoring other young people. They help new hub members feel welcomed, and they initiate activities that help members have fun, bond and gain a sense of belonging. 

 

• Community Engagement:
  Youth Ambassadors will gain confidence in their ability to actively engage with the community promoting the SWAC Art Hub for Teens program at youth events, open houses, event booths, etc. 

 

• Marketing and Communication Skill Development:
  Youth ambassadors will enhance their skills in areas like communication and marketing. They manage the SWAC Art Hub for Teens chat group with teen members. They share updates with teen members, and they monitor the chat group to ensure the vibe remains fun and positive. 

 

Level 1 Youth Ambassador - Middle School (7th - 8th grade)

Level 2 Youth Ambassador - High School (10th - 12th grade)
